Commewijne Plantage Tour

1 DAY EXCURSION €75.00 PER PERSON

Commewijne lies at the Commewijne River, right opposite the capital city Paramaribo. The tour takes you along former colonial plantations of which most are now abandoned and no longer active. The first stop is made at ‘Meerzorg’, a former coffee plantation. We then head to the confluence of the Commewijne and Suriname River, at Nieuw Amsterdam, with a visit to the open air museum Nieuw Amsterdam. After a visit to the museum we head to a former sugar plantation ‘Mariënburg’. After lunch at a typical Javanese restaurant (Warung) we visit Plantation ‘Peperpot’. In the afternoon we return to Paramaribo.
Included in the tour: bus transportation, lunch and snacks, drinks (non-alcoholic), Dutch and English speaking guide.

Departure: 09.00 hrs. Return: 16.00 hrs.
