TIO BOTO TOUR

Tio Boto is a small eco resort in the jungle of Suriname. It is 3.5 hours sailing from Atjoni on the Upper Suriname river. On the resort there are 6 cabins with 1-2 beds with mosquito net. Of course there is also the possibility to sleep in a hammock. Tio Boto can be as authentic as you want. Pure and untouched! Tio Boto is enjoying the sun, the sounds of birds and swimming in the river with its clear, cool water. The adventurers can fish there and cook their own food on a campfire!
PROGRAM
Day 1, In the morning you leave at the agreed time from Centre Paramaribo. We drive to Atjoni in about 3.5 hours and from there in a dug-out canoe (approx.. 3-4hours). After arrival, the resort can be explored and you can cool off in the river. After dinner and cozy chat / games at the table you will sleep in one of the wooden lodges with mosquito nets.
Day 2, After breakfast you sail by boat to Djumu. Under the guidance of a (local) guide you walk through the village and undertake an extensive forest walk. You will receive information about the flora and fauna around you and its medicinal uses.. You can take a hike to the Pineapple Mountains in about two hours walk through the jungle. On the 219 meter high mountain the wild pineapples (only in the season to see)stills grow. After the intensive walk you will make a boat trip to the Tapawatra rapids, at the confluence of the Gran and Piking Rio. Afterwards you will be treated with a tropical fruit picnic. In the evening hours, with a bit of luck, you can spot caimans on the river
Day 3, after breakfast, you can relax at the resort and / or swim in the river. Then we leave again by canoe and bus to Paramaribo.
4 DAY EXCURSION
Day 3, after breakfast, you can relax at the resort. By canoe we leave for the village called Semoisi or Massiah where you get a maroon-village visit. Depending on the activities on that day in the village you get a good picture of the lifestyle, customs and traditions. In the afternoon you can swim in the river and visit an agricultural plot.
Day 4, in the morning around, 05.30 AM, you’ll leave for the coffee tour. In the boat while having a cup of coffee / tea you will see how early the locals start their activities along the river. You can also see the birds. After breakfast you can relax and then we leave by boat- bus to Paramaribo.
* Additionally, you can fish in special places in the jungle, visit the Maroon Museum, have a ritual wash or enjoy a cultural event. Your guide will be happy to give you further information about the above activities.
Note: the program is subject to changes (due to culture or weather conditions). ** With 2-3 persons the tour will be carried out with the shuttle. From 4 people with a charter canoe.
